May 2021 - Life is about creating yourself - by Marina Ignatova
Hello friends!
This month we are trying out a
new interesting sgraffito technique. To be honest, I encountered it for
the first time, I read a lot of things, I learned, although the essence
of sgrafitto is familiar to us all from childhood. This is the scraping
of the upper layer, for the development of the lower one. I interpreted
it somewhat in my own way (as a creative person, I can afford it). On
the scrap paper, I put dried twigs of thuja on top. I taped it down so
nothing would move. On top, I applied a texture paste mixed with impasto
paint with a palette knife. I waited a little while for the paste to
set. Then I removed the twigs, and voila, the bottom layer (drawing on
scrap paper) became visible.
Also, I decided to
support the botanical theme in the decor as well. The dried sprig with
flowers was covered with varnish and acrylic paints.
Thank you Riikka Kovasin for such an exciting task of the month! It was cool to learn and try something new)))
Inspiration to all!
Hugs, Marina
